About Gamma Alpha Upsilon Zeta (GUAZ)

Gamma Alpha Upsilon Zeta was chartered during the sorority’s Centennial year in the fall of 2020 in Crestview, Florida, which is also affectionately known as “Christ-view” to some, to service the North Okaloosa County communities. Honoring The Legacy Of Our Founders

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority would be remiss not to pay homage to the first women who believed in the need for a new and different type of Greek-lettered organization and acted upon that need. To these women, Zeta was more than an organization-it was a movement, a belief system that reflected, at its core, the desire to provide true Service, to embrace Scholarship, to set a standard for Sisterly Love and to define the noble concept of Finer Womanhood. This belief has sustained and encouraged Zetas around the world to hold fast to the ideals initiated and developed by its earliest members.

OUR INITIATIVES

Elder Care Initiative

This initiative endeavors to provide education and awareness about preparing for your senior years. It is a comprehensive program that also focuses on elder abuse awareness, financial peace, supporting the caregiver and volunteering at senior care facilities.

Stork’s Nest

Since 1972, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. has enjoyed a partnership with the March of Dimes in an effort to encourage women to seek prenatal care within the first trimester of pregnancy, thereby increasing the prevention of birth defects and infant mortality.

Adopt-A-School

Allows our members to identify low performing schools in our service area and provide assistance in a number of ways. Members purchase supplies and equipment, provide volunteer hours, and work with administrators to identify needs that may be specific to that particular school.

Zeta Prematurity Awareness Program (ZPAP)

This program occurs annually during the entire month of November in support of the March of Dimes’ Prematurity Awareness Month and World Prematurity Day on November 17th.

Z-HOPE

Zetas Helping Other People Excel through Mind, Body and Spirit serves to empower people from all walks of life. It is an interactive holistic multidimensional outreach program designed to enhance, cultivate, and empower participants to develop health promoting lifestyle choices across the lifespan.

Triple Negative Breast Cancer

This form of breast cancer is more aggressive and often labeled more difficult to treat. It has also been found to occur disproportionately in young African American women. Zeta chapters have begun adding information about triple negative breast cancer to build awareness and support efforts of health care professionals and organizations recommending earlier breast health testing.

Commemorating 104 Years

Scholarship, Service, Sisterly Love, and Finer Womanhood

Founded on January 16, 1920, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was born out of the simple belief that sorority elitism should not overshadow the real mission for progressive organizations to address societal ills, prejudices, poverty, and health concerns of the day. Zeta began as an idea conceived by five coeds at Howard University in Washington D.C., predicated on the precepts of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood. Today, these ideals are reflected in each member’s desire to engage the underrepresented, serve where they are most needed, and advocate for change.
